PUERTO PRINCESSA, PALAWAN!!

Unfortunately our trip to Siquijor didn't happen, so we continued on our final trip for the year 2012, which was Palawan.

Palawan, without a single shed of doubt, is the best place I have been to so far. Every tourist destination they have is just breathtaking. Pictures can never justify how beautiful the place really is.

We arrived at Puerto Princesa, Palawan around 11am after leaving Cebu, boarding a Cebu Pacific flight, at 9:30am. Upon arriving, we immediately went to their tourist office, which is just beside the airport. It's the perfect place to obtain useful information about Puerto Princesa, like the means of travel, fare rates, etc. The lady who entertained us was genuinely helpful and addressed all our queries. They also give out a free map of the city as part of their tourism program.

The first place we went to was their coliseum to get a permit for the world famous Underground River. Regular fare for the tricycle ride from the airport to the coliseum is P10 per person. I recommend that you go to the main road to get a ride because the tricycles inside the airport charge so much more. By the way, having a permit is A MUST if you're planning to go to UR. NO PERMIT NO ENTRY! Also, your personal appearance is needed if you are not using an agency. Make sure you get a permit the day before or days before your desired date for UR. These are the fees for the Underground River:

Entrance Fee - P175
Permit Fee - P40

Bangka
Max 6 people - P600
Max 8 people - P700
Max 10 people - P900

It is still an hour drive from PP to Sabang where the UR is located. So once you get your permit secured, you can start negotiating for a tourist van to take you there.

If you have time to spare, you can actually go for a city tour in PP like what some of my friends did. They paid the tricycle driver P500 for the tour which included Baker's Hill, Butterfly Sanctuary, and Crocodile farm. Just negotiate with the tricycle drivers if you are only few and if you're on a strict budget. If not, you can travel by renting their tourist vans. I must say that you have to make sure that you also visit Iwahig Firefly Watching in the evening for that is one experience you will never forget.

As of now, I am very busy so the blog for EL NIDO, Palawan would most probably be posted next month. If you're interested of what our itinerary was for Palawan, please do +1 this post and comment here so I could send you the details.
